Welcome
We’re Basement Games, a family-run roleplaying gaming company based in New Jersey, named after the basement we played in for so many years. We’ve been playing old-school content since the Blue Book came out in 1977. We switched to First Edition in ’79 and never looked back, writing and exploring campaigns and adventures for over four and a half decades.
We love creating. From mountaintop castles to perilous swamps, we love dreaming up the next big adventure. Whether it’s saving a hamlet from a savage ogre or defending the world from the tyrannical Red Clawed Hand, we want to spread that joy to those who love the same game we do.

Into The Depths…
For the past two years, we’ve been working on a project of legendary scale. Inspired by the Mines of Moria, we are creating an ancient Dwarven Dungeon of 20,000 rooms–fully written, mapped, and filled with anything a party could need.
You can learn more about it through our website, blog posts, monthly Dungeon Almanac releases, and subscribing to our Patreon to join our journey through the mountains!

Our Projects
These are some projects we’re working on and want to share with you:
- We want to print full-length First Edition modules in the style we grew up with.
- We have a cooperative card game in the works that captures the essence of the dungeon crawl experience for one to four players.
- We’re prototyping solo adventures for those who want to game without time constraints or Dungeon Masters.
- Our crown jewel is the Dwarven Dungeon project, which we began in 2024. It’s a megalodungeon inspired by Tolkien’s Moria, filled with tens of thousands of rooms, monsters, mysteries, traps, and stories to be told. Estimated completion date: 2031.
