Dog (Forge)

Dogs are canines with thick fur and sharp teeth. They have keen olfactory senses and acute hearing. These talents provide them with the vigilance benefit (30%). Guard dogs have much keener senses (60%). Humans have developed leather armor barding for these animals to help protect them in combat.

These animals are omnivorous. Domesticated dogs eat meat or vegetable-based foods. Wild dogs eat the bones, meat, and innards of their prey.

Domesticated dog breeds are bought and sold throughout kingdoms and civilized regions.

Female dogs have the same characteristics as their male counterparts. Young dogs have one-half the health and damage potential of their parents.

They avoid burning torches and campfires.

In combat, these canines bite victims for 1d4 damage. Although aggressive when healthy, wild dogs will flee combat when reduced to 5 or fewer hit points.

Wild dogs live in temperate climates in grasslands, plains, and sparse woodlands. They travel in packs ranging between five and twenty. Lone travelers fear packs of wild dogs. These animals feed on wild animals such as rabbits and deer, but packs of wild dogs may invade frontier villages and towns, attacking people and domesticated livestock.
